If you use tools like Claude Code, Cursor or Codex, you've probably run into this: you ask for a modern landing page, a professional dashboard, or an interface with personality — and you get a generic design that looks like everything else.

Predictable gradients, floating cards, oversized headings, and an aesthetic that immediately feels "AI-generated."

The good news is you can significantly improve those results using Skills: reusable instruction sets that help the agent make better design, structure, and development decisions.

In this article we cover five Skills and Skill collections we use or reference at Nebula to build more consistent, attractive, and professional frontends.

What are Skills?

Skills are reusable instructions that extend how programming assistants and agents like Claude Code work.

Instead of rewriting a massive prompt every time you start a project, a Skill can predefine:

  • Which design criteria the AI should follow.
  • How it should structure the interface.
  • Which visual mistakes to avoid.
  • How to handle typography and spacing.
  • Which components and patterns to use.
  • How to review or improve an existing project.
  • The main advantage is consistency.

    The AI stops improvising every decision from scratch and starts working with a clearer guide. This doesn't replace the judgment of a designer or developer, but it can significantly improve the first result and speed up iterations.

    **Note:** installation and compatibility vary by tool. Some Skills were designed specifically for Claude Code, while others can be adapted as context or instructions for Cursor, Codex, or other agents.

    1. Emil Kowalski Skills

    Best for: landing pages, SaaS products, dashboards, micro-interactions, animations, and user experience.

    If we had to start with just one collection, it would probably be this one.

    Emil Kowalski's Skills focus on improving the details that usually make the difference between a correct interface and a truly professional one: visual hierarchy, spacing, typography, transitions, micro-interactions, intentional animations, and visual feedback for the user.

    Our experience

    What we value most isn't that it "adds animations" — it's that it forces the agent to think harder about when and why to animate something.

    A good interface doesn't need every component to move. It needs movement that helps users understand what happened, where to look, or what to do next.

    We'd use this especially when building a landing from scratch or doing a quality pass on a SaaS product.

    2. Taste Skill

    Best for: improving existing designs, fixing generic interfaces, landing pages, and refining composition and typography.

    Taste Skill fights one of the most common problems with AI development: AI slop.

    This term describes interfaces that work but feel repetitive, predictable, and without identity — unnecessary gradients, excessive rounded cards, oversized text on every section, heavy shadows, components that look copy-pasted from the same template.

    Taste reviews composition, visual rhythm, typography, spacing, motion, hierarchy, and overall consistency.

    Our experience

    We find it especially useful when the project is already built.

    Most of the time you don't need to throw everything away and start over. You need the AI to look at the current interface, detect what makes it feel generic, and suggest concrete improvements.

    We'd use it as a second visual pass: build the functionality first, then refine the design, composition, and details.

    3. UI UX Pro Max

    Best for: new projects, web applications, dashboards, SaaS products, design systems, and multi-screen interfaces.

    UI UX Pro Max is most interesting when you want to build a consistent visual foundation for the entire product — not just generate a single screen.

    It helps define color palettes, typography, components, buttons, forms, navigation patterns, and error/loading/confirmation states.

    This matters because one of the main problems with AI in large projects is inconsistency. Screen one might have green buttons with 12px radius. Screen two uses a different green, 20px radius, and different typography.

    Our experience

    We'd use it primarily at the start of a project, before generating dozens of screens.

    First define the visual system and main rules. Then use those decisions as context for each module.

    Especially useful for apps with admin panels, tables and filters, complex forms, multiple user roles, and flows that need visual coherence.

    4. Huashu Design

    Best for: interactive prototypes, presentations, product demos, infographics, animations, and visual audits.

    Huashu Design is a broader collection. It's not limited to generating web interfaces — it can also create visual pieces around a product: presentations, infographics, animations, demo assets, and design audits.

    Our experience

    This is the one we'd choose when the goal isn't just to build — it's to communicate an idea.

    In software projects, having the functionality isn't enough. You also need to show it to a client, investor, internal team, or test users.

    That's why it's especially useful for creating demos or visual presentations before the product is fully finished.

    Which one to install first?

    For a landing page:

    1. Emil Kowalski Skills — hierarchy, details, and motion.

    2. Taste Skill — strip out generic visual decisions.

    For a dashboard:

    1. UI UX Pro Max — define the visual system.

    2. Emil Kowalski Skills — improve interactions.

    3. Taste Skill — final review pass.

    To improve an existing project:

    What no Skill can do for you

    Skills can improve the output significantly, but they don't replace fundamental product decisions.

    Before generating an interface, you still need to know who will use it and what problem they have, what the primary action is, what information they need first, what should happen when something goes wrong, how it will work on mobile, and what level of accessibility it needs.

    An interface can look spectacular and still be hard to use.

    At Nebula we work in this order: understand the problem → define the flow → prioritize information → build the functionality → design the experience → polish the visual details.

    AI can accelerate each stage, but it needs a clear direction.

    Tips for better results

    Don't ask for "a modern design." Too vague. Explain who the product is for, what action should stand out, what visual tone you're after, and what elements to avoid.

    Ask for the system first, then the screens. Before generating five pages, define colors, typography, spacing, buttons, and main components.

    Review one screen at a time. Easier to catch errors and maintain consistency when you move progressively.

    Don't accept the first generation. Ask the agent to justify its decisions, detect problems, compare alternatives, and simplify the interface.

    Test with real content. A card with "Lorem ipsum" can look perfect and break when it receives a 40-character name, a portrait image, or an error message.

    Conclusion

    Skills are changing how we design and build software with AI.

    "Give me a modern landing page" isn't enough anymore.

    Output quality depends heavily on the context, rules, and criteria you give the agent. These five collections can help you avoid generic interfaces, maintain consistency, build better design systems, and iterate faster.

    But the best Skill is still a solid understanding of the problem.
